Fire Incidents 3/13/13

Narrative:  Firefighters responded to a reported kitchen fire.  They arrived to find a pan on the stove fire that had extended to the microwave and upper cabinets.  Crews removed the appliances, confirmed that there was no extension into the attic space, and ventilated the smoke that had spread throughout both floors of the two-story house.

Narrative:  Firefighters responded to a reported house fire.  Upon arrival they found a prohibited outdoor burn in the backyard of the residence.

Crews respond to fatality industrial accident

Incident Date:  3/12/13

Incident Location:  4015 State Route 509 and North Frontage Rd.
Incident Type: Technical Rescue/Recovery

Narrative:  At 12:08 p.m. firefighters from station 2,8,9,and 12 responded to a reported person injured atop a cargo container crane at the Pierce County Terminal in the Port of Tacoma.

Upon arrival firefighters ascended the large container crane, located the person and confirmed that they had died in an apparent industrial accident.

The identity of the deceased person, as well as the precise cause, time and manner of their death will be determined by the Pierce County Medical Examiner's Office.
