Response: Station 2,7,8,9,16,17
Damage Estimate:  $2,500
Narrative:  Firefighters responded to a reported kitchen fire in a multi-family apartment building.  Upon arrival, they determined that unattended cooking (oil in a pan on the stove) resulted in a fire that grew large enough to activate an overhead sprinkler head.  Firefighters credit the sprinkler system for quickly knocking down the fire and preventing it from spreading to the remainder of the kitchen and building.  Crews shut down the sprinkler system, removed the light smoke and water from the apartment, and there were no injuries to report.
