Crews extinguish dryer fire at paper manufacturing facility

Narrative: Firefighters responded to a reported fire at a paper manufacturing facility.  They arrived to find a fire had started in one of the dryer's used in the production process.  Crews worked quickly to extinguish the blaze, containing it to the area of origin.  There were no injuries to report, and the fire caused an estimated $15,000 dollars damage to the machinery.

Early morning house fire ignited by faulty electrical wiring

Narrative:  At 3:31 a.m. firefighters from station 7 responded for a report of the smell of smoke in a house.  Upon their arrival, they found fire had started in a wall in the kitchen and spread into the attic and roof area of the single story house. The Engine 7 officer upgraded the operational response and they were quickly joined by additional firefighters from stations 2,8,16,17.

Crews extinguished the fire with handlines, ventilated the attic space, and conducted search and rescue of the home. A fire investigator determined that the fire was caused by faulty electrical wiring, resulting in an estimated $25,000 damage to the building and its contents.

One occupant received relocation assistance from the Red Cross, and their were no injuries to report.

Narrative:  Extinguished small beauty bark fire.

Narrative:  Firefighters responded to a reported kitchen fire in a multi-family apartment building.  Upon arrival, they determined that unattended cooking (oil in a pan on the stove) resulted in a fire that grew large enough to activate an overhead sprinkler head.  Firefighters credit the sprinkler system for quickly knocking down the fire and preventing it from spreading to the remainder of the kitchen and building.  Crews shut down the sprinkler system, removed the light smoke and water from the apartment, and there were no injuries to report.

Narrative:  Arrived to find two large foundry castings that had been placed on a wood pallet during the manufacturing process had caught the pallet on fire.  There was light smoke in the building, but the fire spread was limited to the pallet.  With the assistance of plant personnel, a fork lift was used to move the castings to a proper metal pallet, and the smoldering wood pallet was removed and extinguished.

Narrative:  Crews extinguished a fire in a pile of cardboard that was being stored inside a garbage dumpster enclosure.  There was light charring to the wood siding exposed to the fire and crews were unable to determine what started it.

Narrative:  Firefighters responded to a reported fire in a four-plex apartment building.  The first arriving company extinguished a small fire in an upstairs storage facility.  Upon further investigation, the fire appeared to originate from a folded canvas painters tarp, and then spread to a cardboard box beneath it.
