Narrative:  Firefighters responded to a reported curtain fire in a commercial occupancy. A stage lamp in contact with a stage curtain ignited the fire. A dry chemical extinguisher was used by a person on-scene to knock the fire down prior to our arrival. Firefighters extinguished the fire, confirmed there was no fire extension to the building and ventilated the smoke that had filled the auditorium.

Safe and Health Family Fair on July 27, 2013

Stovetop burner ignites house fire on Westgate Boulevard

Incident Date:  7/8/13
Incident Location:  6322 Westgate Blvd
Incident Type: Residential Structure Fire

Narrative:  At 11:32 a.m. Firefighters from station 1,2,9,13,14,16, and 17 responded to a reported residential structure fire.

The first arriving engine company found smoke and flames showing from the roof of the one-story 1,104 square foot residence. Crews attacked the fire with handlines, completed a search to confirm no one was inside the building, and ventilated the roof.  

No one was home at the time of the fire, and there were no injuries to report. 

The cause of the fire was a stovetop burner that was accidentally left on ignited the contents of a pan on the burner. The fire resulted in an estimated $60,000 damage to the building and its contents.

The first arriving engine company found smoke and flames showing form the exterior and gable roof area of the 2-story residential structure. Crews attacked the fire that had started at the base of the structure and burned up the vinyl siding to the roof. A fire investigator determined that the cause of the fire was a large aerial rocket firework. There were no injuries to report.

Narrative:  Firefighters responded to a reported commercial structure fire. The first arriving engine company found smoke in the basement of the three-story bar/nightclub. Using thermal imaging cameras, firefighters determined that HVAC equipment in the basement had overheated causing the smoke. Firefighters cooled the equipment, confirmed that there was no fire extension, and ventilated the smoke. There were no injuries to report.
